A busy week. Last Saturday by train and ferry to the Isle-of-Arran. Collected by Jon at Brodick and straight to a rehearsal of Balloons for four hours. Sunday: band rehearsal and a further rehearsal in the afternoon. Monday: technical rehearsal. Tuesday: dress rehearsal. Wednesday to Saturday, four performances. The theatre in Lamlash was more or less full every evening with members of the audience, from a previous night, returning for a second time. The show went amazingly well. Heather Gough's direction brought something striking and original to the show highlighting in full the themes of the script and music. The cast, all talented and excellent along with Musical Director Diana Hamilton, working alongside musician Jon Holingworth, brought music and script alive with precision. The sound and lights were terrific thanks to Andy Surridge and John Barraclough. Next is Balloons the DVD and then a CD and, eventually, a score to follow.
