Andrew Keeling's Diary
|
2009-01-05 - 7:30 a.m. A very cold weekend. Saturday: walked round Scorton. Later, a phone call proposing a commission for a new piece. Then watched Prog Britannia, the new BBC 4 programme on Progressive rock music. The winners write history. The winners, in this category, were King Crimson. I was, and continue to be, astonished by the technical virtuosity of this particular group of musicians. I also liked the power and roughness of Time and a Word-period Yes. Gary Brooker and Carl Palmer were both articulate. The programme, of which I was unaware before last week, ties-in nicely with the continuing work on ITCOTCK. Sunday: to Black Fell with S&G. The sun shone all day; the paths were ice-bound; the walking generally easy; the views clear.
