Andrew Keeling's Diary

2009-02-07 - 9:28 a.m. A very busy week which still hasn't quite come to an end with more performance (this time accompanying at the piano) required tomorrow. The text of the King Crimson work is now complete. Jonathan has kindly suggested ways in which the drums can be written on Sibelius, but this is different from the Flash format used in the previous King Crimson Musical Guides, which tends to suggest that the Guide to In the Court of the Crimson King will benefit as a book. When the previous Musical Guides were published, I had one or two comments that the sounds of the click-on/playing musical examples sounded synthetic. The idea was this: 1) readers of music can read the notes on the page; 2) non-readers can't; 3) if there are click-on musical examples you can HEAR THEM! It's as simple and easy as that. We felt this was an innovation. Clearly an innovation missed by everyone. Never mind. One day, perhaps. Thursday: recorded demos of three of the new songs. These will be recorded properly in due course. Also talked to two players about forming an ensemble to 'launch' the acoustic cd. We might well turn our attention to this in due course. Also practising the guitar/flute/keyboard parts for the recording of the Balloons CD. This is likely to be the last port of call for this particular project.
