Friday: an easy journey to Arran during the morning and early afternoon. Read an interesting chapter in a book about the difference between song and melody partially putting my mind at rest re the direction the writing has been taking. In the evening recorded the guitar parts of Balloons courtesy of Jon H.

Saturday: by 13-00 all keyboard and flute parts had been added. During afternoon and early evening we managed to record three other songs and two brand new ones: one which had arrived in a previous night's dream and a strange top-blown flute improvisation. All of this was completely unexpected. The music in the session had moved on compared to what I've recently been doing in terms of the songwriting.

Sunday: waved goodbye to Jon and Ali and took the early ferry back to the mainland. Problems with trains to Glasgow (engineering work) and then from Lockerbie onwards where a bus ferried us to Lancaster taking nearly two hours. A thought went through my mind as all us passengers were hurriedly shunted from train onto the bus at Lockerbie (see MySpace aphorism diary).
