Andrew Keeling's Diary
|
2009-07-10 - 7:09 a.m. Another busy week. First, fence painting. Secondly, working on the horn and piano piece. Currently, more work seems to be done on this away from the piano than at it. Again, it's evolved into a three movement structure. Several of the more recent pieces seem to have taken on this architectural characteristic. I'm a little unsure exactly why. Thirdly, more proof reading of the In the Court of the Crimson work. This is very nearly done. One more proof reading should complete it ready for publishing. Fourthly, a solo walk up Red Screes (A. Wainwright - Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells - Book 1). Astonishing views from the summit. When away from these places one forgets the beauty of them. Total silence except for occasional gusts of wind, the bleating of the sheep, the sound of the skylarks and ravens. Ian Mitchell has also been in touch saying Gemini have recorded Pirate Things and Seule. At least, Alison Wells and Ian have. Listening to McDonald and Giles, Philip Glass, Peter Hammill's new album Thin Air and countless other things. Tending to find it's not a good idea to listen too much to anything when in composing mode. Things from the listening tend to find their way into the pieces. Reading recent Paulo Coehlo amongst other things. Preparing for the arrival of Elizabeth, Paul and Liam.
